    Hello,

My site Free Software Downloads is up for 6 months now and I've been experimented with Google ever since. Without my will, of course. After 2-3 weeks I had like 150 visitors (v) /day. After that I had a boost up to 800. This lasted a week and then I was down again to 150. I brought more links and went up to 350 and stayed there for 2 months. After more good links I had a boost to 1500-2000 v/day. This time lasted for 2 weeks and it began to drop is small steps to 350 again. But for the last 2 weeks I struggled to have less than 120.

What is this people? I am doing something wrong with the site? I know many people have my content by I tried to bring something new here and there. Should I wait more ? I am in the sandbox?

I know site age is a big matter to Google, but was it always like this? The same thing would have happened 2 years ago for example? Or this is a new Google trick?

Situations like yours are not that uncommon. Google will often give new sites a taste of the action on the first page of some key terms and then bump it back.

Wait a few months and see if it bounces back. Is it possible you could have over SEOed?

As for what to do, just add content and obtain back links like any website would do. Google will pick up on this sometime and you will be rewarded eventually. It just takes time.

It takes time for a site to settle....just continue pleasing your users...I think Google uses bounce rate when ranking and I sometimes that could be the cause for volatile serps

I tried to have all types of backlinks. I don't have many but I have some.

How can Google know my bounce rate? It is possible only if I use Analytics service, which I do. So using it I expose my self and go down in SERPS??

    Yeah google definately considers.

    1) Bounce Rate -Important to know if visitor found the information he was looking for. Time could be a factor as well.
    2) Click through rate in google search: your site was ranking on #5 but was getting CTR higher than no. #2. no.2 will loose ranking and you will gain rankings coz visitors seem to give your site more importance.

Ok. But Google know my bounce rate from Analytics? Where else? Should I use another tracker system?
