I have a domain that has been indexed for over a year - I must have gotten some links even though I didn't promote it. All it has on it is a page announcing that we are working on the site and how it will soon be completed and information about the coming site. The project was delayed over a year now and we are finally coming to a completion. Now do you guys think that because its been indexed for a year that when I start promoting it it will skip the sandbox? I would say probably not myself because I believe the sandbox to be partly link aging but I was wondering what everyone thought.
It depends for what keywords, as I believe sandbox is for keywords, not website or page. A year is a good amount of time to be out of it already.
I think you should have put up a decent website at the first oportunity. All the search engines are expert at recognising holding pages an parked domains, I would think that the delay filters on your site will kick in the moment a robot or spider detects that your new website is online, The filters would probably start counting again from that day Put something up now, make sure its related to the final product
centime: Well it isn't a parked domain really but it does only have the one page. Within the next two weeks the site will be completed (it was a hard project). I do think you are right. I probably won't be able to skip the sandbox. I was just wondering if anyone had any experiences or have tested this. When I do put up the site I will report what happens if you are interested.
BTW, look at this parked page I just came across this morning: http://www.google.com/search?q=auto...ent-ff&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGGL,GGGL:2006-11,GGGL:en Number 1 listing is a parked page. Not saying you are wrong though, because most parked pages are not indexed.
I don't really think that being parked affects a page as much as other factors. And in my experience, and that of others, sometimes you can get away from the sandbox. Sometimes it's luck, sometimes you don't really know why, but sometimes it's for implementing some SEO techniques, which again, don't work for all keywords. Which ones only Google really knows... Good luck!
I've launched 10 sites in the last year and haven't seen the Sandbox once. Links from existing domains sure help.
