me and my friend started brand new sites pretty much at the same time. i was promoting mine by getting links from both directories and forums, while he was unaware of directories and only got backlinks from forums. while my site is still in sandbox, his is already receiving visitors from google and msn, occasionally from yahoo too. could it be that directories are mainly used by seos and backlinks from them penalise/sandbox your site? has anybody done any research on the effect of backlinks from different types of sites (directories, forums, blogs)?
I also recently developed a couple of websites; however, I didn't promote them neither in directories nor in forums. Just put some quality inbound links from strong PR6 websites and haven't noticed any sandbox what are you taliking about. I think sandbox exists only for poor web-developers who cannot find a better way of promoting their creatures, but by submitting their websites to the directories.
The biblical term "pride preceedith the fall" comes to mind. Before throwing a large group of webmasters into the "poor web-developer" category you should read through this forum some more. I'm glad you've been able to avoid this phenomenon but if you are after competitive keywords (realestate, cars, jobs, boats, homes, furniture, etc.) you will experience some fitlering. . . on a new domain or new theme for an old domain. -jay
Are you sure that you understand the meaning of the sandbox???? It is not about spidering or indexing it's about showing up in the SERPS for competitive keywords.
its about penalising new sites for too aggressive seo, atleast thats what i thought it is. and if some kind of links dont trigger this thing, its an interestin topic to research.
I like this article: http://tools.devshed.com/c/a/Search...-Sandbox-Theory-Thing-And-How-Do-I-Beat-It/2/
I think Kasparoff is just another webmaster that thinks PR solves everything. If only Google where that easy.
