    Does the sandbox only apply to new domains? What about a site that's been unattended for several years but has had a few pages in the index? I just updated it with 1000's of new pages - should I expect to sit in the sandbox until summer?

    If Google knew about the domain and had some stuff in the index, you should be fine.

    ..exept eventually if you changed totally the theme of your site and for example renamed the existing files....may see weird results for couple of months.
