Im looking for advice from anyone who's encountered a similar situation as to what im currently in. I've recently (matter of weeks) starting developing a 6 month old domain, i've been using what you could call aggressive SEO techniques on the site. So much so that i jumped up the google SERPS quite considerably for fairly competitive keyword, received some strong page indexing and nice SERP placement for sections of the site. After about a week i've found that all traces of my site in the google SERPS has disappeared - even a search domain.com yielded no results. My site was still indexed in the site: command results so i just presumed i'd been knocked in to the sandbox for xx amount of months. Today however i've noticed im now listed for domain.com in the search results (no1) however it is supplemental. Basically what i'd like to know is have i just tripped some kind of 'over optimisation filter', and does my current situation suggest that is the case? (BTW i never broke any of googles webmaster guidelines when working on the site). Any advice would be appreciated
Same thing happened to me. If you do too much work on your site Google drops you. It is kinda like a filter that gets rid of too many changes. It is probably to prevent over optimization. I am afraid to touch any of my sites beyond a few words anymore because of this.
