Sandbox = not being indexed??

    Hi,
    about 4 months ago I decided to purchase a domain name for one of my websites, which was previously hosted in a subdirectory of one of my existing domains.

    I set up a permanent redirect to the new domain name.. and waited.. and waited.. and waited.. but Google still does not even list a single page of the new domain. When search for the domain name in Google it comes up with 0 results, while there are still over 6000 pages of the previous web address (subdirectory) listed.

    Google crawls the site on a daily basis and it reads the xml sitemap, but still won't index the site.

    Any ideas?

    Steve

    are you positive it's a correct (301) redirect and you're not redirecting with a 302 or a meta refresh or javascript?

    in any case, this has nothing to do with the sandbox. sandboxed sites are indexed but don't rank.

    What is the best way to check whether your site or a page is sandboxed? Thanks @disgust

    That's not what my definition of the sandbox is. I thought the sandbox prevented "new" sites from appearing for popular terms.

    Not being indexed isn't a sign of being sandboxed - it's a sign of being banned from Google IMO?!?

    There is no such thing as the sandbox, thats just a fly-by night term made up by some SEO head.

    As SEO Kate said, its a filter (one of many) that gets tripped.

    Not being indexed on Google is not a sign of the sandbox or tripping those filters as they can only happen when you are indexed.

    Yep snadbox is alive and well. I suspect lately that Yahoo wants to play in the sandbox too.

    Sandbox is a filter that prevent new sites from potential spamming possibility. It lasts for about a year, preventing your site from getting into top ten Google. But not from indexing :eek:

    It takes anywhere from 4 to 7 months of good search engine optimization to get out of the sandbox.
