    If your site is in Sandbox then without worrying on how long your site will be in Sandbox you should keep building backlinks and sooner you will be out of the jail I believe. :)

    There is no time specified for sand box , it may take up to 1 to 6 months or may be one year.but if you keep link building with effective SEO ,may be you get it out from sandbox very soon.

    You can't get sandbox'ed by promoting your website, that's a fact. If you could get sandbox'ed, everybody would sandbox their competitors. Especially in n fields like Affiliate Marketing.

    Lol, not true. More competitive the keyword is, longer the duration of effect. When you are sandboxed, your pages are indexed but on position 50+. Lasts for 3-6 months. Quality backlinks help.

    I am sure that the algorithm takes in consideration, the time the website has online, fast backlinking, quality linking, niche etc etc. It all depends i dont think there is an accurate or exact time.
