I have a site that is doing well in SERPS which is about 6 weeks old, DMOZ listed. However, it does not show any rank in Google's toolbar. Is this what the sanbox is all about? How long will it take to show any PR in the Google toolbar?
The Sandbox doesn't have anything to do with page rank, it's more to do with the age of the domain and the time the site is first crawled by Google. Typically many new sites start out well with Google and then drop off for 5-7 months (or more) before re-appearing and hopefully ranking where you'd like them to. As for PR in the toolbar, that won't show up until at least after the next update, probably in a few months as one recently occurred. Spend that time building links, as that is one of the most important things you can do while you're waiting. Hopefully you see success and it works out for you, but these things usually take a while Ian
Toolbar pagerank (TBPR) appears to be related the rank, relevancy and number of websites that link to your site. Google updates its TBPR periodically at its own discretion, on the average of about once every quarter. So from this we can deduce that the best way to get PR is to acquire backlinks from quality sites with high PR that have content related to your sites. Once this is done you should "hopefully" see changes to the positive within 1-3 months.
Some says PR updates quarterly, I don't remember where. Some of my blogs before I started last July gets PR3 and PR 4 last October. Better keep optimizing and build quality links and watch out for PR for the next couple of months.
