Hey folks, I have a 3 year old domain that I am considering launching. Since the site was never live and never had any content. My question is since I have had this domain for almost 3 years do you think I will be sand-boxed when we go live?
Most likely it will be since it was never indexed. But it will depend on what you are targeting and how many links you can get for the domain.
There is a whole forum here dedicated to the sand box you know. And of course it will be in the sand box.
old domains, even old website still have sand-box effect! you 'd better belive the sand box is a "smart" box.
don't worry mate, there's still processes (maybe take long) to resurrect your domain, keep reading...
If the domain has been indexed by Google, and has just been sat doing nothing then there's a chance that it's not sandboxed. If it's a domain you simply haven't used and its not being indexed by Google, then I'm afraid it'll be up to 12 months before you start to see Google referrals for competitive keywords.
Yes, DarrenC, my practice (and not only mine) shows that there is no sandbox. Yes, of course older sites are valued more... but there is no such thing as a link penalty for new sites.
Sandbox theory is a load of crap, i got ranked #4 for a competitive search term on a domain i bought last week. Explain?
Well, it never got developed or indexed so it will go into the sandbox. Remember that the sandbox is 90% related to what keywords you are targeting. I launched a site related to Lineage game and never linked to it but it got out of the sandbox in less than 60 days. I also have a web hosting directory in the sandbox for almost 2 years despite all the links and ads !! So, what keywords are you targeting
Yes sandbox definitly exists , and the best way to get out of it is to build links with low competitive anchors to your site, my sites are usualy about 3 months in sandbox
