I'm trying to become an editor for the "Regional: North America: United States: California: Localities: S: San Diego: Business and Economy: Advertising and Marketing" category.

on the application form, when I submit my 3 sample URLs... I don't want to come off as if I'm advertising any agency by providing links...

how do I go about it, should I submit ad agencies but from a different region or do I have to stick to the regional theme?

can something else other than ad agencies appear on that list, the title is after all 'Advertising and Marketing' which could mean any topic related. I see only businesses in the dirctory though...

    advice?
    thanks

hi paluch, from tips and advice for becoming an editor:

    http://(x)dmoz.org/cgi-bin/apply.cgi?where=Society/Philanthropy/Volunteering

    # You'll be asked to supply 3 sample URLs on your application. The sites you suggest should be specific to the subject matter of the category for which you are applying to edit.
    # By providing a sample of 3 URLs (websites) in your application, you are showing us

    * your understanding of the kinds of sites listed in the category
    * your ability to pick quality websites, and
    * your ability to provide good and useful descriptions.

    Hope this helps;)

The three sample URLs must belong in the category you are applying to, and must not be already listed.

Using one of your own URLs is perfectly acceptable.

Be sure to read the titling and describing guidelines and apply them to the samples. Don't just use the titles and descriptions in the category - because they may be out of date. http://editors.dmoz.org/guidelines/describing.html

If you check out the description - http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_...d_Economy/Advertising_and_Marketing/desc.html it will tell you what type of sites fit into the category.

Best of luck on your application. :)

ETA - The description might be a little confusing to locate - so I'll put it here for you
