    Hello everyone.

As we all know, a good link from a .edu domain can help quite a bit
when it comes to search engines rankings in Google.

I just have a question about .edu domains.
Does a website named something like this:
    Websitename.edu.au

Have the same value as a website named:
    Websitename.edu

Looking for a yes/no answer here.

No they wont have the same value cuz a .edu.au website isnt a real edu
as a link from a .edu website will even if it's nofollow

    Hi,

Absolutely not, only *.edu domains have a high value...

But why do you still need to have a recognised educational organisation to buy them?
I mmean, they are as hard to get as any other .edu domain, so would they not have the same value?

I don't know but normally ".au" is the domain extension of Australia... so a .edu.au should be australian educational website I guess...

.edu domains aren't correlated with a country...

    Yeh, I know.
If it says edu.au, then the edu is a subdomain of the au domain.
However, the question is if Google cares if it's a subdomain or not.

The reason I'm asking this is because I see alot of people offering .edu backlinks
where half of them come from .edu.au, .edu.tw and so on.

I you want to rank on Google Australia, it could be interesting having baclinks from .edu.au but if your clients are located in the US... you should have backlinks from .edu only...

I don't think .edu better than others,Focus on the site itself.

it depends on the actual pagerank of the domain/subdomain ..

the higher the PR the better the quality and impact it will have on your website
