same posts twice on the page due to slider.

Well, theres this wordpress theme that absolutely suits my needs. Only problem is,

the theme has "featured" slider. Now whenever I add a new post, it also goes to the featured slider on the top and will also show up on the large posts area below the slider.

Which means, the same post is being shown twice.

What I wanna do is, show the posts in the slider from A specific category. Whats the best way to do that?>
