Same domain - Multiple TLDs

    Hi,

I registered a pretty good domain for my new site. Lets say:

    mydomain.org

I also registered mydomain.net and also some other similar sounding domains like
    mydomain1.org, mydomain1.net etc.

Now my main site is on mydomain.org and this listed by the search engines and this is what I point my links to.

All of the other domains are parked and point to my main site.

    Is the correct practice?

Can I submit all my domains to the search engines to reap the benefits of having multiple keyword rich domains?

If I submit them all and they point to the same site will I be penalised for duplicate content?

Can somebody tell me what normally is done when you have multiple tlds of the same domain?

Any help in this matter would be appreciated.

    Use 301 redirect.

    Hi thanks for your reply.

By using 301 redirects does this mean I can submit all the domains to the search engines although they will all redirect to the same site. Won't I get penalised for duplicate content?

What is the benefit of redirecting all tlds to my main domain ove just parking them?

If your main website profits more than the other domains parked, of course redirect them. A 301 redirect means no duplicate content penalising. All link value like PR to these domains will be redirected to your main domain too.
No you shall not submit these other domains to search engines if you 301 redirect them. They won't get indexed anyway.
