Hi, I'm in the midst of discussing a partnership with another domain owner that has the same niche as my current domain, and the plan is to replicate my site (PR 4) content on his domain (PR 6) as it has a much higher traffic and help him to manage the site. So, i'm wondering what the impact will be if I have 2 domains that have the exact same contents. I understand that it's not good and many advised to do a 301 permanent redirect to the preferred domain but I'm not sure how this partnership would go and I would like to fall back on my own domain name if it does not end up well. Can someone please advise? Thanks.
If you wish to use one domain you should do 301 redirection to the preferred domain. If you are not sure aboput the deal with your partner then show your contents on his site as feeds. That will not hurt your original domain. If the partnership fails you can simply cancel it and no more pain.
Hmm, that's the problem as he seems pretty keen to keep the visitors on the site rather than re-direct them to mine.
