Google has reported huge profits recently, and those profits are from AdWords. They're obviously taking a bigger percentage these days in order to get those profits. Will the trend continue? Who knows. The inventory with the YPN program is not as big a Google's, but they are paying very nicely per click. If you have an invite, activate it as soon as you can. AmCy
I've heard the same complaint (unstable earnings) from YPN users too! Hopefully once the competition heats up they will both start paying more.
Yesterday was my WORST day and today will be a NEW worst day! Traffic increased by 20% and income dropped by 75%??
Apply here: http://publisher.yahoo.com/ Submit your site. If your site is all "white hat", i.e. no popups, automatic downloads or other funny business, then I should think that you'll get in. May take some weeks to receive an invite after you apply, but the wait is worth it, IMO. AmCy
Can't believe my last hours stats, got a click worth ZERO and 20 clicks worth under 3 cents each. What kind of crappy smart pricing is this...
Google's behavior doesn't make sense. They are chasing everyone away with these depressing numbers, and these webmasters are all flocking to Y!'s program. With MSN's version on the way, what on earth are they thinking? When people move to another program, they'll most likely to become "inert" and stay there. AmCy
I just applied for YPN, hopefully they approve my site quickly. I want to split 50/50 adsense/ypn for more stable revenue, and later 33/33/33 with MSN.
It's a sound strategy, but you may have to wait a while for MSN's contextual ads program, as they first have to get their version of AdWords (i.e. MSN AdCenter) online and packed with advertisers. AmCy
Are you already in the YPN? Care to give any tips on getting accepted quicker? Things like how long the site's been online, # of visitors, etc. have a difference in getting approved or getting approved quicker? And how's afternic doing for you? I am using sedo and made 3 cents out of 500+ impressions =(
I have no insight to offer, as I'm new to the program and had to wait as long as everyone else to get in. As far AfterNIC goes, their parking program is great now that they've revamped it. You can choose to use Fabulous of Domain Sponsor as your parking provider when you park with AfterNIC. I'm a bit of an AfterNIC evangelist, as I've had nothing but a positive relationship with them over the years. I tried SEDO parking a long time ago and earned nothing. AmCy
Well, there is a rumor that Google pays based on how long the user stays at the site they went to. I'm not sure if it's true or not. Remember, Adwords shows even low paying ads to determine their CTR, so they may be testing out some of the lower paying ads on your site. I don't think there's anything you can do about it except wait and hope that the people running the higher paying ads either 1. write better ads to improve their CTR or 2. Bid higher so the higher CTRs don't matter. Or it could be that Google is screwing us. I wouldn't rule that out, either.
I managed to increase uniques by 1/6, and the revenue has been down over 75%. This is the 4th day of revenue decline, absolutely disgusted at how adsense is performing.
If you're looking for a different ad program that has a high payout, check out the link in my signature. I've done well with them!
I don't use the contextual version anymore, but it was pretty accurate. I have not found a page yet, where I could not figure out a product that would fit. There are so many different products to choose from, just about everything that you can find on amazon.com, shop.com and shopping.com. For some examples: on my motorcycle site I ofcouse have motorcycle gear, but on the drawing site, the visitors aren't nessecarily interrested in drawings, they just want to look at pretty things - so I show ads for that - not drawing utillities. There are even underwear ads - if you can't get people to click on girls in underwear there is something wrong with the world
By default they have contextual ads turned off, so you can use them with Adsense. The way it works is you give them some keywords in the code and they show ads about those products. Check out an example here: http://www.thebargaingarden.com/?postid=8 I gave them the keywords "coin sorter." You can also use the search tab and see what sorts of ads they would show for words on your site. No, I don't get paid for you using the search, only when you click on the ads.
