This has happened to me on numerous occasions. I'll be plugging along getting good AdSense payouts and then one day my profits drop significantly and it stays that way for a few weeks. I don't know what to tell you except that for me it has always bounced back!

I've been hearing from a lot of people that their adsense revenues are dropping. That's great timing, being that I just got approved for a freaking account! There goes my dream of being a millionaire...

I have been using adsense for a while now, and I dont see any dropping.
My oct. earning is greater than Sept's earning, so dont let your hopes go away. :)

yes, I am experiencing this also. It is probably do to what I posted in another post: Google now allows bids as low as 25 cents for cpm ad campaigns (1,000 impressions), thus the payouts for eCPM for adsense is a lot lower also. Making adsense earnings lower. Clicks and Impressions are the same, or even higher, but earnings are now lower again. :(

Once Yahoo's program comes out of beta we will all hopefully see an increase in returns. Competition is a good thing!

Could potentially be smart pricing... If your clicks don't deliver on the advertiser end, you get lower payouts per click. If a higher percentage of clicks convert, you get higher payouts. That is why it is important to get high quality and willing traffic.

If people end up on an advertisers site by accident, it will hurt your earnings down the road via smart pricing.

Smart pricing? I thought you paid a certain amount for an adwords click, based mostly on the keywords, and that was that. How would google know whether a click ever resulted in a conversion? What about sites that don't have conversion at all? I could pay a bundle for adwords links to my site, even though I'm not selling anything.

Its not about conversion, its about intrest the visitor shows in the advertiser's site. like if i click on a Ad and quickly hit back button, the publisher will get less payment for my click, but if I stay long on that site, the publisher will get a higher payout.
there must be some technique at Google's end to get it.

Weird, never heard of that (though I am new at this). Is this documented anywhere, or just a theory?

They have mechanisms for checking on the effectiveness of visitors. I am not an adwords user, so someone else could speak to it better than I... But besides straight conversions they take in to consideration time spent on landing site and things like that as well.

Suffice it to say if Adwords advertisers have lower clickthroughs, they pay more. If adsense publishers have lower conversions(be it sales, registration, time spent on site) they get paid less. It does seem like Google is a genius in playing the middle, but it does make sense.

I've noticed the same thing - same traffic (actually its up) but click values and CTR are down.

i put it down to less relevant ads on my sites for some reason - which is strange because I've not really changed anything.

Hoping it fixes itself or I'll be swapping over to Chitika in my prime ad spots soon - especially with Christmas coming!

October has been markedly worse for me. This will be a good weekend for me to finally test Yahoo on some of my pages. Yahoo called me last week to ask why I had not started using it yet and at that point I did not have a good excuse. But, now I am convinced I need to make the switch.

Which leads to another thought: Nobody at Google has ever called me just to see if I have questions and to offer their assistance.

I heard if you remove AdSense and put it back later, your click values will go down drastically. Is this true?
