Google has never wanted owners to be able to rig their PR or ranking algorithm - and owners cross linking their own sites to make it seem more popular is something they will never change their mind on.

If you need to cross link all those sites for referral traffic, just add "nofollow" tags and you'll have no problem. If you want to count those as unbiased links from unrelated sites, you'll need to do a more: like different hosts, different whois information, no use of the same adsense account, etc... and hope google doesn't figure it out.

Hosting doesnt matter unless and until your network websites have :-

    1. SAME CONTENT of networked websites :(

    2. INTERLINKED :(

These above factors can prove detrimental to your rankings.

I have five different domains that very openly are all mine -- same host, moved together to a different host, all registered to me, and so on. I'm sure Google treats them pretty exactly as if they were on one domain. But I'm also sure it's no worth than that. PR is typically 4-6, depending on the page and the usual kinds of fluctuations.

The topic matter of each is different but related, which is why I set things up that way.

Was it the right decision? I think about that a lot. Two of the blogs have strong brand identities. (The two on the left hand side of my .SIG, especially the top one.) It has been VERY good for my business to have category structures on each blog of about the complexity there now are; I don't know whether I could have solved the problem of having them not be too complex if all the blogs had been one. But some of the hassles are annoying too. Close call. Now the identities are strong enough, and also the SERPS, that it's realistically too late to change. Just like I can't really justify fixing the error of going with WordPress default SEO-friendly URLs rather than REALLY doing it right.

So if the sites that I interlink have different C-Class IP's, I will be fine?

Different hosts, different whois information, no use of the same adsense account, etc. - and you may get away with it. Aaron Wall even advises against other "tells" like all domains using the same registrar, or private whois, anything that is going to tip google off.

You would really be better off in building one quality site and getting backlinks from non-related sites. Building 10 sites on the same topic generally isn't going to create a quality network. 10 links from 10 so-so sites aren't going to ever make a single authority site. Even if you get away with crosslinking - none of them are going to rank for any competitive keyword. You are probably the 10,000 person to come up with the idea of cross linking a bunch of sites they own to try and increase their rankings. People were doing it 10 years ago when it used to work.

You can interlink your sites. Just don't go nuts.

A good rule of thumb is 5 outbound links to your other sites.

If on DIFF class C IP's, that helps too, but if adsense on all sites easy to detect all your sites still.
