If I have a website that uses Google Adsense and got ranked on the first page of google for a specefic keyword, will my SEO be affected if I create another website targeting the same keyword with the same Adsense Publisher ID? I have been doing a lot of research and experiments on this matter and came to a conclusion that google does not list two websites with the same Publisher ID on the same page of SERP.
I have no answer but I would like to know if some expert will share his/her thought on this topic as i am looking for the answer of the same
Your conclusion is the first time I've read it. And I know for a fact that it wasn't the case at least in 2010 because I remember clearly having 3 sites on the first page of SERP with my adsense id on them, for some keywords. Now I haven't look at it, but it is surprinsing to say the least that adsense id should have any relevance to search results, adsense team and google search team are not meant to be related.
Yeah James, you are correct when you said this wasn't the case in 2010. But after the panda update, a lot of my compeitors' websites out ranked many of my websites when my websites used to rank higher than them before. I also have a friend that used to take over page one of SERP, but now only one of her websites appear on page one. The only other website that she owns apperas on page one was the one with a differnet publisher ID.
If you are using same content in both sites then yes there will be a problem of duplicate content and you will be punished.
Hi C, It is pretty safe to target the same keyword even a dozen times as long as the content on which these ADs run is different from each other. You not only increase your adsense earnings but your visitors stay longer because you have more content on the same topic. Infact, it is a great way to build your backlinks too. Hope this helps, it certainly helped me. Regards, Wonay
