I've got this site on fishing and there are two different webpages which talk roughly about the same topic. On both of these pages, the same ads are served because the topic is similar and i've been getting the same Cost Per Click for both of them ($0.05). For two weeks now, I've noticed that for one of the webpage, the CPC has been reduced to $0.02. I've checked both pages and the advertisers are still the same but one page is getting less CPC than the other, what could be the reason? Can't be smartpricing because if that were the case, then both pages will have the same cost per click. Can't be adwords advertiser filtering because i can see the same advertisers on both pages. Anyone experienced this?
It could be all the reasons that you have mentioned but CPC depends on myriad of factors like your Ad location, your Ad relevance, the visitor location etc. So, you can't figure out the exact reason of this difference.
Thanks for the replies guys. I would have thought the CPC would be the same for the same ads but i suppose ad location could be the reason here.
one click might be "effective" and the other may not... depends on what the end user (clicker) ends up doing..
It will vary all the time because it is a sealed bid and the price is set by the advertisers, if the max they are willing to pay goes down then your earnings will go down.
The difference in the revenue could be due to the traffic source; i.e. clicks on the same ad from Asian traffic yield less revenue than that from US.
