Hello friends! I'm new to affiliate marketing & hence I'm confused between the terms SALES & LEADS. I know what a SALE is but what is a LEAD?
A lead is a potential customer that you know about, it's down to you to convert the lead into a sale.
exactly as DaGrip said: it's a potential customer, people pay for leads because they're potential customers and they can convert them to real customers.
But why wud anyone pay 35$ for a "lead"??? I have this program that pays 35$ just for a lead. Don't they just lose money when people don't buy their products?
Because people that are willing to sign up to a service with their credit card are more likely to become a long term user than those that don't. In the long run, more people convert that not (out of those that signup with a credit card) and of course when they convert and become recurring payers, the company you're promoting makes money every single month they're registered. That's why affiliate companies can afford to pay so high per that kind of lead. On the other hand, leads without credit cards will often give a lot less - the standard amount for an email submit is around $0.5 - $1.75
