How many of you have had sales experience before? Just wondering as I see alot of affiliate marketers seem to no little about sales. Seems to me they spend more time worrying about getting traffic and boosting their google rankings and have forgotten how to sell. Would be interesting to see who has had previous experience and who are the best affiliates here. Thanks, ManifestAMillion.
What do you mean by sale experience? I was a pizzeria owner andit was working very well for me. Also, affiliate marketing are not selling, but they are preselling. there is a huge difference. Read the Netwriting Master course by ken envoy, it will help you:
I minored in Managerial Economics in college. Seeing things in action is alot more real though. cross-sells, up-sells, scarcity, call to action, time constraint, branding, I can see where the books were coming from...
I dont think one need to have a sales exposure in affliate marketing. But the knowledge is important (atleast a little). It helps in Pre-Sales, Branding, and other important functions. I do have a good sales experience, but i dont think its necessary for an Affliate.
Some interesting answers. I think we can all agree that having sales knowledge can only be helpful. Personally I have found my sales experience to be very very helpful when it comes to affiliate marketing.
Your product page is basically salesmanship-in-print. Your sales letter IS your salesmen. With affiliate marketing your helping the vender sell his product. I think everything thats related to money has something to do with selling.
I was a successful seller of training programs. But I have to confess that was just because I was in an underserved market. I learn much more about selling from affiliate marketing than from selling training programs.
