It's all about making the truth sound cool. Not embellishing or hyping. Just making boring stuff sound cool. For example, did you just spend your summer working in a bookstore? Or were you situated deep within the book business, lining the pockets of elite New York publishers? That's the difference.
I call it "all about engagement". I have no problem with the hypesters. As Mr. Bailum famously said, "there's a sucker born every minute". More and more people are coming online. So while those of that got suckered in (yep, I was one of 'em) 3 years ago are jaded, the ones that haven't been suckered are still coming. I personally don't enjoy lying to people, or manipulating their emotions. I much prefer to tap into their deepest desires, understand it, and give them a solution. This way, they don't feel suckered after the sale either... It's also alot more fulfilling.
