Sales Copy - Less Hype or More Honesty?

    It's all about making the truth sound cool. Not embellishing or hyping. Just making boring stuff sound cool.

    For example, did you just spend your summer working in a bookstore?

    Or were you situated deep within the book business, lining the pockets of elite New York publishers?

    That's the difference.

    I call it "all about engagement". I have no problem with the hypesters.

    As Mr. Bailum famously said, "there's a sucker born every minute". More and more people are coming online. So while those of that got suckered in (yep, I was one of 'em) 3 years ago are jaded, the ones that haven't been suckered are still coming.

    I personally don't enjoy lying to people, or manipulating their emotions. I much prefer to tap into their deepest desires, understand it, and give them a solution. This way, they don't feel suckered after the sale either...

    It's also alot more fulfilling.

    Hey Split,

    Sounds a bit like the Art of Diplomacy. . . Telling someone to go to hell and making them look forward to the trip. :)
