I was not using Clickbank for long time and sales were not too much. But every time when I see a sale, I could see buyer info (like name, email, country). Now I started to use Clickbank at my another site and sales increased but I can NOT able to see buyer info anymore(only state, country). Why Clickbak doing such a thing like this? I want to keep track of emails and promote related products in the future to these buyers...
I've noticed the exact same thing - as an affiliate... Maybe the reason they took off the customer details are so that people like you and me DON't email them trying to promote other products! Because we did not receive their permission to send them emails... I think the only way around this would be to create a squeeze page or some kind of email opt-in on your sales page..
Yes, this is exactly why the change was made, the old way was actually against privacy laws - as Clickbank put it, most people don't even know they bought through an affiliate and won't want following up randomly. Yes ^ put opt-ins on your landing pages and ask people to join for free gifts, further information etc - get their PERMISSION
This could be an issue for ppc marketers. It's no longer possible to measure gender based conversion rates.
I'm an affiliate but thinking to run my own product (working on it right now) soon at Clickbank. I hope it's not the same for vendor!!!
Clickbank implemented this to prevent unwanted promotional to the customers. Apparently some affiliates have the habit of using those e-mails to promote other offers to the buyers, yet the buyers don't have a clue that they bought via an affiliate, nor who the affiliate is. This change is a good thing, since the personal details of the customer can be abused by some affiliates. There is a better way tho, simply build a list, and push your stuff to them.
