Sabotauging other sites

I knew a guy who was trying to sabotage other sites so his site would get higher in the rankings. I lost contact with him and I don't know if it worked or not, but has anybody tried that? I'm sure it's covered under Black Hat SEO somewhere...

By the way, I'm not going to try this, I'm just wondering if anyone has done it or knows someone whose done it or if it works, because some guy told me it didn't work no matter what you did.

There are ways for sure. There was a recent thread about how you could drop a person's rank on the MSN Live! SE by linking to paths on their domain that don't exist. Little dirty tricks will always be around, some will be out in public, others kept hidden. I think it's horrible though, you wouldn't like it if someone did it to you after all your hard work, right?

It's very hard on Google. Because links from outside your website can't hurt you as you dont have control over them...

What comes around, GOES around. It'll come back and kick you in the ass 5 times harder.

I know, I wouldn't do it. If someone did it to me, I'd be like, "Hey man! You're playing dirty." I think some people in this thread misinterpreted me.
