    Its called the Euro.

    Get used to it.

United world currencies are stupid as well. You think this recession is bad? Imagine EVERYONE having the SAME money and it all becoming worthless.

Which country would have the right to "print" this new world currency? Any why should "my" country switch to it? What do we get? Whats in it for us?

With a world currency, there would not be a worry about printing location.

The Euro isn't the world's currency. It was a stupid idea. And it will fail sooner than later.
    Exactly

The Euro doesn't work. A united currency wouldn't work.

best option is that countries diversify their reserves and maintain a basket of different currencies.

countries like Japan and China are currently overweight in US dollars.

for trade purposes, countries should start accepting each other's currencies.

One currency is not healthy whatsoever. If this ever happens you'll see the Lorenz curve go crazy.

Its just another speech that they cant rely on US Dollar anymore. And I doubt that euro will become weaker, there are more people who keep their money in euros than lets say 10 years ago.

Of course Russia wants it. Their economy is crap.
Screw that world money stuff. it will never work, it will never happen. Too many poor countries with nothing to offer, and corrupt governments that will just hoard.
It won't work because everyone is not on the same economic page.

Russia does well when the price of oil is WAY UP like it was last year. Their oil is expensive to get, and expensive to produce. Right now, they LOSE money on it. Kinda gives a broader understanding of the dynamics of their last invasion attempts, doesn't it. ;)

the bad part is that Russia's oil reserves have only 20 or so years left.

Russia needs to plan beyond those 2 decades and diversify its economy.

otherwise, it won't matter for Russia what currency the world is using....;).

Why do you think UAE and other PRODUCTIVE ARAB countries are spending so much time and money building resorts and attractions for western cultures? They've got around 5 years or less worth of oil.
