Hi Friends, I have been running SEO ranking reports (using the SEO Studio from http://www.trendmx.com/website-promotion-optimization-software/website-promotion-software.aspx - this is a free download) for my clients on multiple machines. The problem I faced is that my IP was blocked (since its a LAN in my office) and my Yahoo results were not correct for most clients. I was recommended to hide my IP (using some software) which can run my reports using proxy IP or funnelling (I am not sure what it is). Can you tell me the best way I can run reports from more than 1 machine? Thanks in advance. Madhu
uh.. how do you know the IP was blocked? Unless you have a dedicated IP they'd have to toss and entire block of IPs which doesn't happen much...... Is it a desktop appllication?
Thank you for your reply "Thegypsy". Yes its a desktop application. I downloaded the software and installed it on to my machine. But when I realised that each report would take me at least 45 to 50 minutes...I thought its better I run it on many other machines. So I installed it there as well. (That was a mistake I guess) Well, I came to know that its blocked only through my clients who told me that Yahoo! has blocked the IP and won't get the desired results for a keyword trace / search. (This was cleared in about 5 days I guess as I now have results from Yahoo! as well). Now, my problem is - I want to hide my IP (heard there is something called as Findnot.com - but not sure how does this one work). Any idea? Please help. Thanks in advance.
Yahoo only allows 5000 automated requests in a 24 hour period. Once you exceed that, you cannot use yahoo again until the 24 hours expire. Depending on the company that you use for internet access, those 5000 requests don't all have to come from you. I don't know that a IP blocker would work, as I think they are plugins for your browser, and would have no effect on software that connects to the internet on its own.
thanks steve, umm...no, not so....but thats what my client told me....that Yahoo has shown "no results" just because the IP (at my office) was temporarily blocked. Though I am not sure how should I have checked that.
Bullfrog, thanks for your descriptive reply...just a clarification... do you mean that in a day only 5000 request (for SEO rankings for various sites by many guys around the world) are solicited? So, what would happen if it really exceeded 5000 request and say, the 5001th request for an info (for the ranks for a site) was from me? You mean (if I understand you right) - I won't get my rankings? Is this right? So, for sure, there are no IP blocking being done here, right? BTW, any idea how does this findnot.com works? Does it really hide your IP? Any one tried it out here please? thanks in advance.
Okay guys, for those who had not had a chance to run SEO reports simultaneously (using SEO studio) here is what I found. You can use TOR and Privoxy (simultaneously) to hide your IP and run simultaneous reports. You can schedule the reports to run at a regular intervals. Once done, in the respective clients (I mean a website here) you can get the latest report in the "Report manager" tab. The time stamp will be the latest - so that means its the latest. Double click on that report and save it as HTML in respective client folders. Easy? Hope this helped. Thanks Madhu
perhaps the software is designed to run on one machine, and if you want to run it on several u may require to obtain a full license
Yeah Sharon, I had a full license though...but the results I got while manually searching was not the same as I had while running the report using proxy settings. Now I am done away with that software I am switching over to AWR (Advanced Web Ranking) Hope that works better!
