Hi all, I have a few sites that are not doing to well. I will describe below in brief on most of my seo for the site. Please advise on what I may be doing wrong. I'm only receiving about 20-25 visits per day. 20% google/yahoo 15% forums 65% direct I'm trying to hit a few keywords but im all the way on page 12 and not moving in google...out of about 90000. Here is pretty much what I have done: My site is wordpress on my own domain Site submitted to google, yahoo, ask, etc All in one seo pack installed for wordpress and optimized for my keywords. H2/H3 titles on all posts and pages. Sub-links created for title tags on all wordpress pages and posts. Category base configured for optimized keyword for my niche to help with google/seo. Tags created for all posts and pages. All images have alt tags correspnding to the picture 50 manual directory submissions to PR4+...no reciprocals. 2-3 article submissions to ezine and a couple other PR4+ DIR. Posts advertising site in google and yahoo grps. Forum posts and signatures linking to my site in my particular niche (top forums in the business). Used BUM method for SEO (created 6 blogs with long tails) wrote paragrahs and linked back to my wordpress site. submitted rss feed to mybloglog.com,feedraider.com and rss2.com. Thanks
what you've done is good.. but its only a small amount. How old is your site (sites) How long ago did allthis work shown get completed How many backlinks do you have, how many are showing in Yahoo inlinks (link:http://www.(yoursite).com How many different sites do you have backlinks on (the ones you sa yare in your niche) What is your Alexa traffic ranking? (i assume below 5 million because of 20 hits per day) Work on getting your traffic to at least 300 unique hits per day. Put content that is informative or funny, or helpful for people to bookmark or linkback to Get into the big topics of the day (news, media, high traffic forums) and create traffic guides. Work on getting as many backlinks as possible (not from small rinky dink sites like peoples personal geocities sites etc..unless of course they're high ranking and traffic) The weird thing or the catch to SEO ..is that its hard to get high SERPS sometimes for your keywords when starting out, and if you're creating a site that isn't any exciting or big topics on any day ..then you will notice that even those niche forums will have last comments where they weren't today, but from over a year ago - very low activity. So the catch is - how do you get tons of traffic to your site through niche sites, IF your market or industry is nowhere near hot topics or exciting.. You have to do that, to get higher and higher SERPS. But many markets or industries or niches ..just dont create a flow of activity like say a political election site would be doing right now , or a celebrity site etc. Here's where you have two options and paths to take. One of those options is considered against the rules by Google and can get you banned. 1. Finding all niche sites with high traffic and PR and paying for a link to be on their site. A false link vote saying that your site is a credible source at least to them. 2. You have to create a dams and routes for the flow of traffic to your site. You have to create content that is more exciting and perhaps try cross-over tactics. Not because it will do anything for your sites sales or 'qualified customers' .. but instead to get the ball rolling. Bring in masses of traffic and have them link to your good content, funny content, useful content etc. Spread this content out over many pages - so that they have to click though pages (just dont make it obvious or annoying). This will increase the time people spend on your page, and the number of page views your site gets. (which is also important and probably included in Google logirithm for measuring your sites worth) As your traffic and backlinks go up ..your SERPS climb higher..and as your SERPS climb higher, your site begins to finally get its qualified traffic. Because then when they see you on the search engines after they typed the search word specifically looking for it ...then they are coming to your site how you want them to. Organic searches through search engines are the top way to get free qualified traffic to your site. If you can't do some magical logirithmic wonder to make Google instantly put your listing at the top of the SERPS ... then you're gonna have to get tricky with it..and for awhile anyway, you will have to bring in traffic to your site and get people to bookmark and backlink you ..even if it isnt 100% on target of your sites relevance. Google doesn't know what those traffic people are thinking..it doesn't know the reason they came to your site. It must determine that by how long they spend on your site, and how many pages they view. It doesn't know if they came to play with your funny game, your mind reading A.I. script, your compatibility test, your horoscopes etc ..or if they actually came to look at what your site is about. Make a table (HTML) the far left table can contain the <h1> tags and text for your keywords. Your site title, and keywords can be about your site. But then in the next table that gets read second by the search bots, can be your 'IQ tests' or compatibility tests.. and the text around it designed to look like advertisement to the peoples saying = "Get your friend a gift " or whatever your site is about. Ever esee one of those IQ tests online? they make people spend at least half an hour to an hour, and they make them have to go through at least 12 to 20 pages. Stories, short stories, information ..anything that can be spanned over many pages. The Catch for Web Sites: you can't get traffic and high SERPS usually until you have high SERPS. The Fix it: do as good of a job to bring in traffic and make it look as relevant as possible- bulk mass traffic. As your SERPS increase - your traffic will then become more and more targeted to your site through keywords. Depending on the competition of your keywords - good SEO that doesn't cheat can take 12 to 36 months to achieve a decent goal. Thats 1 to 3 years of steady work. Unless you have $50 million to spew logos and 'branding' of your site ..EVERYWHERE ..until people just automatically go to your site because it's become burned into their memory. that's the difference between us and the giant corporates. They can take a lot of money and just plaster their logo and images and slogans everywhere. If they have an easy to remember URL and ignorant and cutesy things that make peoples heads feel warm and fuzzy or like the snap snap of chewing bubblegum ...then millions of people can start flooding into their sites just because they gave it to them to do. you already know that there are lots of people in the world that cant ind things on maps and they don't have a clue what's going on in the deeper level news of the world. Those types of peoples only know whats given to them, put in front of them and opened for them. Large corporations rely on that..because they put the simple and cute designs right in front of them and open it - those people never have to search or trouble themselves sorting out what ever might be best. The corporates do that the best because they have a ton of money to do it. Thats why when you see SEOs or webmasters tyring to promote their sites with = "Very Awesome! Come to this site!" tactics ..they never work. Because those big banner ads on the top of every page on every major website are always 'putting it in front of them'. It is traffic ..lots of traffic and more and more backlinks and good content that people will spend much time on ...that you seek
Contents.. you can create a blog that contains articles of each word in the english dictionary. you will surely outrank everyone after some quite months. i have a english dictionary at my side to add new words to use in my articles. I usually get 30 percent of my blog's current traffic from google. that's about 20 visits per day.. I usually reach 70 visits per day now. but i will be aiming for 100 visits per day. Try using social networks.
I prefer talking about actual-factual stuff. Do you use * robots meta * google sitemaps * simpletags * wp seo master * wp super cache are your texts 'correct' english ? is your content self written or copy-cat ? is your blog header complete ? what are the inner ranks of your pages ? what is your keyword/text ratio ? do you use a 'nofollow' link policy ? do you use 'hidden' text ? do you link out to 'bad neighborhoods' ? give me the sitemap url, and I'll check your page ranks?
Thank you very much for the replies everyone! i'll answer some questions here: btw I have 2 sites. site 1: www.supplementscoupons.com site 2: www.zcontests.com ezprint - All of the work was done in the past month site 1ages (1) | Inlinks (19) site 2: Pages (1) | Inlinks (7) Not sure why it shows 1 page..I have more than 1 page. I have signatures on about 2-3 forums for my niche on one site and 5-6 on the other. I believe it may take some time to get approved and published for many of the directory sites I submitted to...maybe I should submit to some more? Then again, didn't google just publish something about directory links and how they don't increase rankings anymore? Site 1: Rank 4,3254,019 - PR1 Site 2: Rank 12,518,379 - PR0 I will definitely attempt for more content...I published a bunch of info but I spent a lot of time recently on SEO..I think I should have waited a bit for the SEO and continued with more content. As for unique fun content..I will definitely try to think outside the box. It's a bit difficult b/c my site is a coupon and contest site. The coupon one is more difficult...I browsed a very successfull coupon site (not related to my niche) and he had over 3500 pages b/c of his RSS feeding to his homepage 10-15 posts of news on his niche daily. On the column of his page he had links to his coupon pages. I'm wondering if I should try something similar to increase the pages and content of my site b/c the site is strictly a coupon code provider. alpharob..posted addresses above cipal15..thanks...I described my thoughts of rss article posting for more content...I will definitely think about it. juust: -the metas are automated..but I just downloaded Headspare Meta Data plugin for wordpress so I can manually enter a title and description for meta..what do you think? - I'm using Google XML Sitemaps - I don't have the plugins simple tags, wp seo master, wp super cache. I do use tags for all of my posts and pages (manual entries). I have Platinum SEO installed and i've been using it from the start. My text is in proper english, no spelling or grammatical errors. My entire site is original..all of my articles were written from scratch, not a sentence copied. My inner pages have no rankings. I haven't used nofollow..95% of my links are external..I don't think I need to use nofollow in this instance unless I had a lot of internal links. - I don't use hidden text I don't link out to bad neighbourhoods. Sitemaps: http://supplementscoupons.com/sitemap.xml http://zcontests.com/sitemap.xml PR1 and PR0 are the page ranks. Any suggestions, criticism, help..would be appreciated. I know most say it takes time to gain visits, high page rank, etc....but i've seen tons and tons of people here on DP pull off exceptional results in high volume niche categories all the time (in a short period of time). One guy recently posted getting from page 12 to 2 in 1 week (hired seo service). It's definitely possible and I know i'm doing some stuff wrong and missing a few key steps. I'm trying to rank high for phrases like "bodybuilding.com coupons" The 3rd site on page 1 of google is PR2..I haven't moved from page 12 in weeks. This site does have a ton of pages though which I think I need improvement on but theres only a certain amount of pages I can create for the actual topic of my site. Thanks again.
site 1 tips: clean up the header text put it below the page put up more content for each product post same with site 2
Ok buddy. If you have not already done this. Submit a news release on digg.com and use your best keyword as the title. Thats a fast easy boost.
At first blush, it looked to me like your site was a bunch of ads for products. Ok, I understand they are coupons, but they look like product ads. I'm thinking you need to add a paragraph or two of text talking about what these wonderful products do (and containing contextually-accurate keywords and phrases, of course). I consistently do pretty well on Google with my sites, and they are all chock full of text and have at least ten pages. Good luck! - Russ
ok, im guessing the sweep stakes ones keywords are contests and sweepstakes? altho you've got keywords in titles and youve got plenty of posts, youve not got much content high on the home page, thats relevant to your keywords. See if you can change the site around a touch, try and get text on the front page about what you want to be found for and see if you can have your posts to appear underneath that, once you get good content on there it should fly!
Thanks for the suggestions guys.i'll definitely take them into consideration. market, im already on digg for both sites macca..yes i'm trying to target contests and sweepstakesm, cash contests, vacation contests, etc, etc. The supplement site im trying to target my url "supplements coupons" which i'm doing terrible on..bodybuilding.com coupons, etc. Here's a comparison I want you guys to take a look at and chime in... Do a google search for "hosting coupons". #1 is hostingcoupons.com, #2 is hostingcoupons.org hostingcoupons.comages (46) | Inlinks (43) hostingcoupons.orgages (4,144) | Inlinks (12,681 The second site has a crap load more pages and links but it ranks below the first site. How is this possible? The first site is very basic with much less content, how did it rank so high? Is .com trusted more than .org by google standards? What do you think about this?
I took a website from 600 to 14 in 100 days and now it ranks in top 10 on google for its primary search term. I made a video of the steps I took to share with others with this type of question. Visit x7SEo check out the video called From 600 to 14 On Google in 100 Days and watch. Everything I mention is from what I learned from forums and blogs of those who have been successful at SEO. The steps are all there. One thing I did learn is that it takes patience and work. There is no magic formula for SEO. Check it out and let me know what you think.
Thanks for posting the links. One site has 2 ranking pages (1 and 0) and the other has half the pages ranking 0. You are right about not getting the rank from inner pages as you have too little pages so you need some ranking backlinks, but it can take eight weeks before that kicks in. About the 'nofollow' thing : Google do value outbound links in posts, but you can put the links on 'nofollow', that only affects the pagerank calculation. Put any outbound link on nofollow, unless you have a backlink deal wth their webmaster. Inner links are not that important unless you want to 'sculpt' the sites inner rank distribution. For your site that isn't important, you are losing your 'juice' on your outbound-follow links. Putting the links on nofollow shows a result in about a week especially with small sitemaps, soon as you blog a new post. You can be on page three next week (...and then there are the other remarks about text/keyword ratio, your 'about' page scores the most in the current setup Nice coupon-babe btw
He posted them: http://supplementscoupons.com/ http://zcontests.com/ @ DDZC: what the hell is this??? This is how people optimized their sites in 1996. Doing this today will only get you penalized in Search Engines. Google is a lot more 'intelligent' nowadays and will drop your rankings for spamming keywords. I would also suggest watching the repetition of certain words (coupons) in your meta description and keywords. SEs are also on the lookout for that...
Thanks again for the replies, Eric, great video, good job! juust, thanks for the response. I think I read too many other blogs stating "nofollow links are useless". If you google nofollow you'll see a bunch of blogs on page 1 and 2 of google hating on the use of nofollow. Will it really help out? I'll update the links and try it out...is it ok to edit affiliate links as well with nofollow? dtm..that was my mistake. I actually removed that garbage on the top of my page a few hrs ago. I believe my keyword usage is okay on all posts and pages though..i'll go through them. My descriptions are all custom to the title. Thanks
If the affiliate program does not specifically mention it, you can put the link on 'nofollow'. If I want a feature link on a PR2 directory page, I pay $5,- per month. I would not give that away for free on an affiliate link unless they link back from a similar pr2 page.
