Hey everyone, I'm new to Commission Junction and have just started advertising with them. I've just recently offered my scripts (which I usually charge $3+ for) for free with the purchase of HostGator hosting, for $0.01 using a coupon. I was wondering what the risks are of doing this? How long does it take for the sales/leads to lock in before HostGator can revoke them? My website I'm running all of this on is http://www.agiorlando.com/. I'm also wondering, what other things do you think I could offer to my users to help increase revenue with Commission Junction and HostGator, or another affiliate. I've just signed up for AdWords as well. I've prepaid $10 for my budget, and set my budget to $5 per day, using about 20 keywords. Do you think AdWords is a good means of getting revenue through Commission Junction? Thanks for reading everyone.
No it does not. I have researched this, and a friend has done this all last year as a primary source of income.
Dear Reckoning, Even your friend is doing money with CJ, I suggest you to go very slow. when using AdWords, you will attract a lot of people searching for a webhosting to use their false creditcard - so normally 65% of your sales will be reversed in the end. Also your website sucks (sorry)... no template, a lot of spell errors and no idea of the text to use to make people click on your links. My advice is to go very slow as hostgator may reverse your sales up to 60 days after the transaction as they use to extend their sales.
Why when we using Adwords, we will attract people use false credit card? Did you mean hackers (know as person that is credit card's thief) usually search for a webhosting via Adwords?
Yes, hacker has a thieft credit card and they want to host a website, so they use Google to search for a good hoster and usually register in several web hosting using the same card. You do not have this problem if you paste your web hosting affiliate links in a web hosting forum that you own for example that you will attract legit webmasters.
But I think that legit webmasters also use Google to find good web hosting provider. Why do you think the percent between those are 65%? Did you mean sales via Google search is 65% false and 35% true?
Yes, for sure. I mean that on google, 65% of the web hosting sales business are reversed: half from legit webmasters that don't like the hosting and ask for a refund (32,5% of the total) and the other half are definitely hackers that buy several webhosting plans (32,5%) using fake credit card - the problem is that they acquire several hosting plans for the same site, generating false sales for a lot of affiliates, but no one will convert in the end - this is why the reversals are so high.
I disagree Micromag, if a hacker has the knowledge to steal a credit card, I'm sure they know of a few good hosting sites already. So how long does it take for the lead to lock in with HostGator?
A friend of mine says that from the day the leads register, I will have it by the next payment cycle (60 days). Thanks.
I aslo do it in Commission Junction, and aslo do in HostGator Affiliate, i feel it is hard to take payment, more webmasters only buy one month use $0.01, so you can registe in HostGator Affiliate, you will see your sales. I sale 30 in month, but only 3 webmaster pay next month! so you can do it careful!
