I have had this site up and running for about 6 months now. I am very slowing increasing traffic each month but still haven’t broken 100 unique hits in a day. I have received a few clicks but at my growth rate I can’t decide if I have chosen a bad niche, if I need to increase my content or if I need help with my ad placement. Advice? www.mymindmap.net
When I visited your website the adsense ads were not mind map template related but web design template related.
same here. your site seems to be a bad niche imo. i dont know too many people who brainstorm as a hobby.
When I view the home page in IE6, the design falls to pieces. The content of the middle Div is pushed down below the side Divs, leaving a big blank space in the middle of the page. I suspect this will cause a proportion of your visitors to leave the site immediately - I personally never hang around long on 'broken' sites.
In addition to the comment about the big white space, your page is very sparse in content, which is why Google is having a tough time deciding what ads to show. When content is sparse, Google tries to determine the intent of the page from title, h1, description and keyword meta tags. Unfortunately, the word PDF appears quite frequently in your tags resulting in ads for PDFs being shown. You must be specific as to what ads you want shown. I've put up a quick page as an example. I've noticed that if you have a few hundred words article, the ads become very targetted, without the need to mess around with meta tags and such: www.pbase.com/dlcmh/mind_mapping You might want to write an article and post it on your page, or use the free reprint articles available in ezinearticles.com. The article I put up on my page was found by doing a search for mind map on that site. The article has the phrases problem solving and jigsaw puzzle which appears near the top, resulting in some jigsaw and SWOT ads being shown - if this isn't desired, I'd have to choose another article or write up a new one on my own.
In Firefox your site seems to be trying to load something. I absolutely positive hate sites that immediately starts loading stuff into my browser without my consent. Sorry, I can't help you if you're going to hijack my bandwidth without my consent.
