Running Ad Groups with Similar Keywords

Let's say I sell jewelry. There is a brand of Jewelry called "Cool Jewelz" (there isn't). I've got my first Ad Group with keywords for "Cool Jewelz" like:

    "Cool Jewelz"
    Fun Jewelry
    Cool Jewels
    Jewelry for Young Girls

Now, "Cool Jewelz" has a specific bracelet called the "Magenta" bracelet that I'd really like to focus on. If I create a second ad group with the keyword:

    "Magenta Cool Jewelz"

I am creating a second group so that my ad will have the title of the bracelet in it, rather than using the generic one I have set up in the first ad group.

(I obviously can't just do the keyword "Magenta" because is too broad a term that could match many things not related to my bracelet)

Will the second ad "trump" the first? OR the other way around? OR will both show and I will compete against myself?

Is there a better way to set it up?

    Thanks in advance.

Why don't you write an ad with the headline "Magenta Cool Jewelz" and target the keywords like "Magenta Cool Jewelz","Cool Jewelz","Fun Jewelry" normally if you want to sell only that one bracelet.

Or do you want to sell also other bracelets?

Both ads would show for one keyword like "Cool Jewelz" but only if you have an different landing page url,in the other situation(if you have the same landing page url's) you would bid against yourself first and then against your competition.

I to sell the whole line generically, but focus on the one item specifically with more targeted ad copy.

I do that all the time. It works quite well.

Google will use the magenta cool jewelz if someone enters that phrase because you were specific in your bid.

I would have setup up different landing pages for different set of products and create a differetn ad group more targeted to specifically those. That way, you get better conversions!

Tips : try some ads for each keywords. It will help maximize your keyword. And don't forget "split testing" over and over again until you reach maximum conversion..

Definitely using different landing pages for the two ad groups.

So just to be certain here... I am going to set up two different Ad Groups, within a Campaign as follows:

    Campaign - Cool Jewelz

    Ad Group #1

    Ad Text:

    Cool Jewelz Cheap!
    Large Selection of Cool Jewelz
    Free Shipping
    www.cooljewelz.com

    Keywords:
    "Cool Jewelz"

    Ad Group #2

    Ad Text:

    Magenta Cool Jewelz Braclet
    Hard to Find Magenta Bracelt
    Free Shipping!
    www.cooljewelz.com/magenta

    Keyword:

    "Magenta Cool Jewelz"
    "Cool Jewelz Magenta"

    *********

So when some one searches for "cool jewelz" it will trigger ad group #1, and when someone searches for "cool jewelz magenta" it trigger ad group #2.

    Correct?

So you are saying it can't be "Magenta Cool Jewelz" but must be [Magenta Cool Jewelz]? Must it be [Cool Jewelz] from the first ad group?

Yes,put the both adgroups keywords in exact match and you will not have any problems. It is always better to put your keywords in exact match.

    Here is a little explanation...

    Correct
    Correct,
but it will also display your #1 adgroup because you have the "cool jewelz"keyword phrase and if someone types magenta cool yewelzyou have an phrase match.

magenta cool yewelz, this last two words will affect your ad to display.

As I said just put them in exact match and that will solve your problems.
