Run script after payment processed

Hi

I am trying to create a system where users can buy legal advice, or ask a question from a legal team. Basically they ask a question in a website form, then get redirected to paypal to pay. After successful payment i want to be able to run a script to send emails to the user and the person answering the question, containing variables sent via the original form to paypal.

Is this possible?

Ive tried to use IPN but its very complicated and i havent got a month to get it working.

Is there another way to send and receive variables through paypal?

Any help would be appreciated
