I need some recommendations. Problem: I run a resource intensive site that nets close to 50,000 pageviews per day. Google ads at the top of every forum are blocked by my user's browsers / computers or completely ignored. Result: I get less than 5 clicks / day. That's like 0.001% CTR. Anyone else run large forums? What do you do to increase cash flow? What advertising company do you use? Thanks
1. Link to your forum 2. Explain to me your ad position I personally get on average 1-2 clicks every other day (mainly every day) on my clan forum and I'm at $96.xx adsense cash and I get around 2000-3000 impressions a day.
Maybe you could begin a paid subscription campaign. If you have dedicated members they may be willing to pay for extra features, whatever they may be. 2000-3000 impressions/day - on a CLAN forum. You've raised a fine clan
Yep like others said, CPM is the best for forums. I would go with CPM, still place an adsense ad inbetween the posts, and then you should be able to make more than you are now.
Did you try to place your ads between 1st and 2nd post? It should have higher CTR comparing with header or footer position.
The skyscrapper banner ad is at the top of the page, above the menu bar. My statistics are from Google/ads. Traffic is global, but mostly from the U.S. Visiting some of the sites at work / other computers do NOT show google ads. I tried to apply to some CPM programs - but they don't accept forum hosts. Which publishing company do you guys use that accepts forums? I'll try the ads after the first post method.
I've never had any personal experience with CPM, but I've heard that some good ones are: http://www.casalemedia.com/, http://www.valueclickmedia.com and http://www.miva.com/ are all good.
Thanks for the tips Fluffball. I was just about to ask which companies were the best for CPM. Thanks. RMC
No problem. You could also consider adding more ads to your site - Such as to the post submission page and 404 page.
