Hi Admin/Mods Is it allowed to offer Web 2.0 or Social Bookmarking service here in DP? I guess not. But why I am seeing these threads which are on the first page I am sure mods can spot them as quickly as I did on the first page of BST and these threads have been there for more than a week now. Is it because mods don't care or because there is something else? Please let us know Thanks
I assume this applies to services like this one where it's part of an overall spam... er, "link building package": http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2481509#post17690631
Now tell me please. This is really important. Is this allowed? http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2492061
Looks like a spam service, as even if it's done "manually" it's just posts for the sake of the link. Probably the same people doing the mindless "what is..." type posts on DP and other webmaster forums.
I know what you mean. If it is illegal then such threads should not be allowed. But unfortunately, Digital point is loosing its reputation. Once it was like a King of webmaster forums and people respected it. But now, it is a haven for spammers. I am seeing lots of spammy threads and they are still active. I wonder why DP started loose its integrity. Maybe nobody cares...
Not that I am disagreeing with you that there's a fair bit of spam, but this is the same with any forum. Some forums pay moderators because they make money from their market, for example, as well as advertising. Generally speaking though for the amount of work required, forums aren't such a big earner. Most regular posters become ad-blind. WF is full of drones, the place makes me puke. BHW is full of tinfoil hats (paranoid as hell webmaster, but a fair few on DP as well), spammers and spam services. I don't see much of a difference between SEOChat and DP, aside from the marketplace. Flippa has made some improvements recently, particularly regarding Adsense verification, making it a more attractive marketplace (for sites). (Although it's worrying to see sales where bidders are "linked to the seller", but remain open...) It's a shame DP doesn't become a paid marketplace (like pay per posting a thread). A lot of money could be made and pay for increased moderation to deal with the spam.
