Running my own forum I am aware that too often members dont read the rules before posting, so as a matter of course I do. So can I point out that the rules currently do not state that masked urls cannot be used even for genuine purposes..... This would stop others receiving unecessary infrations.
As Smyrl mentioned in your other thread, the staff don't have the time to check all the masked URLs to see if they are genuine or not.
You clearly did not read my post before you replied. Did I memntion staff checking posts???...NO Read before posting you might make more sense.
Oh hella yes they do need to be updated. A buddy of mine who recently got banned for stupid shit, such as posting "warez" but the thing that get me is, the "staff" just says what they think it is (they just assume), even tho the product could be legit (which it WAS!). So there goes another infraction, and since we (the members) are now supposto complain, get screwed. So in a way, DP is promoting registering duplicate accounts. That is after you get banned. Seeing this post includes "swearing, complaning, uhh advertising (yeah they'll probably get me for that one too)" I will probably get a few infractions and get banned just like my buddy, No worry, I have lots of time to create multiple accounts, over and over and over and over again. Just needed to say those few things Best Regards to all, knight_rider
@Cheap SEO Services, No I am not my own buddy. He told me that he was legally selling stuff on forums.digitalpoint.com and that he got banned from stupid stuff, and he did show me, screenshots from his email of them emails from digitalpoint. It just made me mad, but yes interested, cause I do have some things to sell. I just have heard of online friends that it has happened to too.
I agree with you. The rules are scattered all over the board with stickies. It would be great for a total rewrite including all the rules in one place. I am not even convinced the rules are all known by all the mods. I have seen a few threads with major violation in the opening post and moderators comment in the thread but the violations are not removed. I suggested it before that everyone gets on the same page and there is a clear set of rules. Example of things that we were told were against the rules but seem to be overlooked by some mods and not by others: Asking for green rep in exchange for a service or to pay for a service ( Green rep appreciated), asking for free reviews when not are offered, double posting without using the edit, giving iTrader for free reviews, etc.... I did not know that either, they are all over the place on DP.
LOL...thanks to whoever gave me the red for raising this issue....the comment was "quit the bitching" Obviously this member is about 4 years old! Its hardly bitching, there either are rules or there are not, one can only follow rules if they are there to be followed, so its a statement of fact that I raise. Edit, got another red now "odn't star trep thread u fag"......My, there are some idiots here!
Yes, I kind of agree - although the current FAQ gives pretty good list of what to do and what not. Naturally you can get quite a long with simple common sense, and when you aren't sure - you can read sticky posts or simply ASK. I was also under the impression that masked links are fine, as long as they aren't affiliate links. Writing a FAQ/rules thing could be good. I suppose ANYBODY can gather them and write them and send the suggestion to mods. It's not like mods need to take the first step, we can start gathering them right away. --- Affiliate posting rules: (affiliates section) http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=636981 Current Rules/FAQ: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/faq.php
You may be right, the rules may be placed in a few different places, the FAQ, the infractions thread, announcements. However alot of them are common sense... Information about infractions can be found at http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=216611
A while back I wrote a PM to Digitalpoint, though I reckon it got ignored due to him thinking I was just whining, which I guess in a way I was... I was going to give it a little more time then start a thread on it, but as it's brought up, thought I'd share it here... While I can see forum specific rules being posted in their specific forums, rules that apply across DP should be centralized so that new members do not need to read 10 threads... When I first got here, I read the FAQ/Rules link in the navbar and thought that was that... I did not bother with reading the suggestions forum for weeks because I thought it was a place for suggestions, not site info... like more rules *shrug* EDIT: I do have two (expired) infractions for breaking the rules as seen in the FAQ. I deserved them, so this is not about that.
Good additions. We'll need to compile this stuff together (and get dp/mods to update the FAQ/Rules page ).
Alright... well in that case we need to get "mods to give this updated (and yet-to-be-compiled-properly) stuff to Shawn"
I'm not here to fight or create and argument but I don't know if I'm alone in this but who else thinks that spamming forums and creating multiple accounts is sad? I can only imagine a 14 year old doing that, it's pathetic to use up your whole day for the sole purpose to create new accounts and make posts that no one really cares about. Learn to respect others, DP has the right to ban whoever they want and you are in no position to say anything about it, DP can ban all its members if they wanted to and no one could say anything about it, so why don't you go an waste your time and find yourself a girlfriend or boyfriend. Or go read a book, it helps your brain
