What rules do you lay down when you are recruiting staff members? Do you have a standard TOA that you send to them or do you handle it verbally (or via email, etc)? What prerequisites do you require from your staff? I am in the process of starting a new community site and will need staff members to assist since I don't think doing it all my self is a wise plan of action and I want to make sure that I have some good guidelines to follow when going through this process.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this or at least a "constructive" response? "Smoke dope on your own time.. That's about it. We are pretty flexible!" That helps about as much as sewing a shirt with a tire iron...
It was meant as a constructive repsonse.. Do your job when you are at work, do whatever else it is you do away from work. I've found over the last 10 years of hiring/employing people that all you need do is treat your employees as you would like them to treat their employment. Give them a flexible, friendly work environment, don't be too serious or ride them. Just make it clear that work, is for work, and everything else is for outside of work. That does not mean you cannot have a little fun at work. Keeping the work environment exciting and unstressful = productive work! Like I said, smoke dope on your own time... That's all I've got.
