Can someone basically explain how to parse rss with PHP.

I want to display some headlines on my developing homepage - http://www.flicity.com and want to know how I can achieve this by posting rss from anews site such as - http://www.smh.com.au (Sydney Morning Herald)

I have applied to the Sydney Morning Herald for this priviledge. I think they like to check that the site posting their news is legit, not porn or some such...so presumming they get back to me with the ok - how to proceed?

I shall post info they giv me here as it comes...

and again, S-P-E-L-L it out, don't assume any knowledge on my part!

Sorry, I didn;t see the other similar threads.

For anyone following this I found carp to be easy to install and staightforward - with a lot of support for troubleshooting.

See the code at work here

I posted some code in this thread about how to do this with Magpie. Really simple, only a few lines of php code.
