    hi there,

can any one explain me how to create an rss feed and what to do with that.
I mean if I create an rss feed, some one will have to link to this feed (if what understood is correct ). how do I do that. any detailed information will be appreciated.

    Thanks In advance

yes i read your thread and it helps to understand the concept. but could you tell mw what to do with it. I mean I ahve created an xml feed.(manual coding ). now I can display it in my website. what should be the code to be used so that ppl can add it to their favourite rs reader.

    thanks

Every feed has a url. That is all your audience needs to save it in their RSS reader. Of course the newer browsers like Firefox will display them without the need of a feed reader.

If you do other promotions you may eventually find that the feed will be useful.

Many social networks allow you to display an RSS feed on your profile or other pages that you have created. Squidoo is a great tool for this. Maybe someone can cite others.

    Yup albemarle24 is correct :)
Your readers will add the link to their RSS reader themselves.

You can also try registering with FeedBurner.com . Its a very popular feed aggregator website :)

    Hope this helps

Its duplicate content, people scrape it by using special search operators on Google, it can rank higher then your real content and people bounce on these pages because it doesnt have your navigation and branding and it looks ugly, you pass rank to your feed when it can be better used on your real content.

There is alot of negatives to having it crawled and indexed, and almost no positives.

I think it's much better to get backlinks and traffic to your actual posts rather than to a boring looking feed page thats just a duplicate of your real content.

As a Search Engine user, if i accidentally click a feed URL in the SERP's when looking for something i hit the back button before the page is done loading. If it was your actual post page i'd read it, and who knows use the navigation to browse the site if it looks good. Why would you want to index your duplicate feed and pass weight to it instead of ranking your real page?
