ok so i have searched on joomla.org for feedgator and syndigator and found nothing on either. I have looked at the rss factory but will that do what i require. basically i want to grab content from rss feeds from elsewhere on the net and have them input into a joomla site. I would love to be able to specify the author if possible more than one rss feed needs to be used and i also would like to be able to automate everythign and specify the frequency it updates Any input back on this would be great Thefactory your product looks to be the most promising will it do the above
yes, it is one of the best if not the best rss component for joomla, BUT it won't import feeds into the joomla content. I will display the feed in several styles (tiled, tabbed, list, etc) Also it has pseudocron and CRON support you can see a demo here: http://demo.thefactory.ro and read some FAQ's regarding this component in http://www.thefactory.ro/support/faq/
I use the factory product, and it's a good product for what it does. But for what you are wanting to do, the mambot RSSFeed might work for you. Get the latest version here: http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,1021/Itemid,35/ It's very simple to use, just add the feed between the following tags: {kl_rssfeed} Feed URL here {/kl_rssfeed} You can add this multiple times in your content for multiple feeds. You can build a table and use this to put a feed in individual table cells. It won't let you combine feeds, but you can use it an unlimited number of times. You can use it in a module, or in regular page content. You can add additional functionality by passing parameters. For example: {kl_rssfeed chtitle="1"chdesc="0"} Feed URL here {/kl_rssfeed} This turns the channel title on, and the channel description off. Experiment until you find the combination that's right for you. The other parameters are shown below: "image" "1" Display Channel images "chtitle" "1" Display Channel titles "chdesc" "1" Display Channel description "chsrc" "0" Do NOT Display the HTML source code for the Channel "title" "1" Display the item title "desc" "1" Display the item description "itemsrc" "0" Do NOT Display the HTML source code for the Item "item_one" "1" Specify the item number to start with "items" "1" Specify the max number of stories per feed "word_count" "100" Specify the max number of words per story "span" "0" Wrap the feed in a span or a div "cache" "3600" Number of seconds to cache each feed. "class" "kl_rssfeed" CSS class to be used in the various HTML tags. "debug" "0" Turning this on will produce a lot of output!
The best solution is here: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/external-contents/news-a-feeds/automatic-articles/11403 with full-text content grabber from RSS sources.
