Hi, I am just starting to research the use of RSS feeds. I have a forum that is growing very slowly Supply Chain Focus Forum, but I am struggling to understand what benefit using RSS feeds on a forum might bring. Is there a danger that it will merely send visitors off to look at other sites (the source of the feeds), or is the main benefit really in having more relevant content for SEO purposes? Any feedback most welcome, particularly from those using RSS Feeds on Forums.
RSS Feeds on forum make it much easier to follow the forums. Without the feeds you have to remember to login to the forum each day to check for new posts. The RSS feeds update in your RSS feed reader when new forum posts have been updated. You click through to the forum on posts of interest. Makes following and participating in the forum much easier IMO.
I would really appreciate RSS Feeds from discussion forums, and if possible (and I guess it is) to subscribe to various categories using RSS. If this was possible at DP, I would probably have read all new posts (in the categories of my interest) - jens -
But you don't need RSS feeds for this. You can just subscibe to a forum and get email alerts. What about external RSS feeds. What is the benefit with those?

I follow almost 600 feeds a day. I have ego feeds setup so I can see when others are writing about our products, I also follow industry blogs using RSS feeds, I also follow industry news using feeds. I get lots of ideas for blog posts and it helps me "stay in the loop" and conversation. I find the feeds save me a ton of time. I just scan the feeds for messages of interest.
