I am working with a developer for an RSS page for a publication. (I am a front end person). We currently are having trouble with the RSS List Item limitation, especially in regard to a parent item such as the homepage. I have noticed that the NYTimes RSS Landing Page (nytimes.com/rss) is successfully dealing with a similar situation. For instance, they have a Parent Feed for “Arts†with the child feeds, “Designâ€, “Music†and “Television Newsâ€. Can someone give me some advice that I may pass on to our developer regarding the algorithm used for Parent and Children feeds? Here is what they (developer) passed to me: ===================================== Let's say there is a limit. in the case of "New", let's say the limit is 40 Feed Items. Now, let's say that child Feeds have a limit of 20. Thus we have a scenario: Child1 = 20 Feed Items Child2 = 20 Feed Items Child3 = 20 Feed Items Child4 = 20 Feed Items Child5 = 10 Feed Items Child6 = 20 Feeds Items The total 110 Feed Items. Yet, "New" has a Limit of Displaying 40 Feed Items. Tell me please, what algorithm do we use to determine distribution ratio of children to include in the parent? ===================================== I was wondering if the limitation could be a date range but that seemed to go nowhere...
