Discussion in 'XML & RSS' started by sportsguru, Jan 20, 2005.

If anyone here is interested in making some money on the side, I will pay them to set me up an RSS Feed on my Blog page. I've read a tutorial on this and it is a little beyond my scope. Anyhow want this done sooner rather than latter.

Please PM me if you are interested.

    Log into your Blogger Dashboard.

Click on the link for your blog.

    Click on the Settings Tab.

Go to the "Site Feed" page.

On the drop down, select the "Yes" option for "Publish Site Feed".

Input the file name you'd like to use for the feed (Usually atom.xml).

Put the Location of where you would like the feed published on the server (This needs to be the actual server path, like wwwroot/folder name/).

Then put the actual URL of where the blog will be published (Something like http://www.example.com/your-blog/atom.xml)

Click save, then publish the blog.

    It's as easy as that!

Don't know if this of any help, sportsguru, but yfs posted a thread entitled Using an RSS Feed (This is Easy) and dropped his code in there for people to use (straight and rotating feeds)

With blogger you'd have to use something like the .htaccess file code that's used in the Co-op ad network to run the php in the blogger html pages and you'd be ready to use the network too :D

Shawn's code for the .htaccess file was
    AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .htm .html
    Code (markup):
though you'd have to test this first before spending any time putting the php into your blogger template.

Hope that's of some use to you, if not just ignore what I just wrote :D

Thanks everyone. Actually, I went and read the Blogger.com help section like S.E.Basic posted here and it was easy! Now if I can only get more people to find my blog.

What I have now is one of those xml buttons that links from my blog page to the xml version of my blog. What I actually had in mind was taking them to a page that just had the cc&p code there for them to paste into their website.

But when I right clicked to view the source of my atom.xml feed page I wasn't sure how much or what part of that code they needed. Also, isn't there a certain format to how that is supposed to be laid out with the various sections? Seemed like some of the sections were missing from my source code?

If someone wants to help me to know what code to put on this page for them to paste, I will PM him my atom.xml feed url. Thanks.

Does the free blogger.com service allow RSS feeds, or do you need the paid version?
