RSS feed and Data feed

    Hi,

    I'm confused about this:

    What is the difference between RSS feed and Data feed?

    Sorry if this question sounds too silly.

    Both are basically XML files (in format). Data Feed usually refers to a feed that is related to product information, like a store catalog. For example, Overstock and Amazon have affiliate programs where you can create a site filled with products where all of the information (product names, descriptions, images and so on) for your site's catalog is actually parsed from the Data Feeds.

    RSS Feed normally implies that information within it is of news/informational substance rather than a product catalog.

    As I said, both are basically XML in format and for all intents they are the same thing, just referred to with differing titles to distinguish between inventory and informational types.
