I was looking for a service to manually submit RSS feeds to directories but stumbled on a few snags.

I looked at the Moreover Technologies site and noticed this.....

My question is, in general, are there technical guidelines we need to adhere to other than basic vaildation in cases where we want to produce an RSS feed and get it listed in directories?

In other words is Moreover's case a rare occurance or is this going to be a common situation.

Some of my feeds are automatically generated by a PHPBB forum and I cannot modify the format to suit Moreover's standards.

I think it should be one of the "rare cases", at least I did not find any such requirements when submitting my RSS-feed to directories in the list posted here.
