Could you guys throw your thoughts on how google might treat Relevant RSS content (content of other site obtained through RSS)on a site.

Even if it doesn't help, I am interested to know if google penalizes sites for using RSS content on their site (does this vary for sites which has no other content than RSS and original content rich site)

    Thanks in Advance

RSS feeds is a dying stategy for small sites that publish them. Why? You get the duplicant content filter applied to your site/pages if the engine recognizes the content from a previous site. Here's the issue. Higher PR sites get crawled more frequently so the RSS feeds are usually read there first so the smaller and lower PR sites are left in the cold.

I wish someone would introduce an RSS "rewriter" that rewrites the RSS content using a synonymns dictionary or something similar (I called dibs on patents!!)

The best RSS strategy is to publish your own content(can't get away from this these days) along with your own RSS feed and submit it to be picked up by large sites. Lots of traffic will follow which is the ultimate goal.

    Good luck.

    Good luck.

That may be true, but it may also depend on how you display the rss content. I use this strategy on some of my sites to keep the content chnaging regularly. But the RSS content only represents a small fraction of the content on the page. My original content is more or less static and highly optimized to a few phrases. The RSS content is relevant and updates daily. It keeps spidey coming back to visit often.

I have no experimental proof of this, but i do not believe that using an rss feed to supply changing content will get you hit with a dup content filter, or at least hit hard, when it is only a small portion of the content on the page.

Rss should be a part of your whole content, rather than the main content.

Thats true. Agree with you here sarathy.

Most of the sites I see nowadays using RSS feeds are MFA sites, you just put these feeds there for the sake of it.

RSS feeds can be useful if you want something to complement your actual site topic and content, and provide something extra to the users.
