Ok folks. Before I blast out the instructions to the 40 people interested in the RSS syndication network here (let's call that a beta test), are there 1 or 2 people interested in helping me with an alpha test? We've run our QA tests and everything is functioning from what we can tell. But it would helpful to get some feedback on the instructions, etc before sending it out further... If you wouldn't mind doing this, please PM me and I'll send you the instructions... Everyone else - Give us another day and we'll be back to you.
I did what you sent me on a couple different hosts. Seems like some work and some don't. I guess we'll just have to figure that out over time and develop a solid list.
Yeah - I IMed him and he said to say "sorry". Project is still a go and he'll be back shortly. FYI - I ran a test and my RSS site is running using this. Saw a few bugs here and there. It's not the best looking site I ever saw, but it was free And overall it did what he said it would do. I have a bunch of back links from my RSS feed now from various RSS sites. The sign-up / set-up took under 10 minutes.
Hi all. Sorry for the, err, umm, "vacation." I guess there is a rule about asking people to contact you that I was not aware of... At any rate. There are currently 20 sites in the RSS Syndication Network. A few people in this thread helped me alpha test and we worked out some of the issues. So we are ready for a beta test. I'm sure there are still issues, but it is ready for the general public. If you are just joining this thread, here is what it is in one sentence: Join this coop and help build an RSS syndication point (node), in return you will get to syndicate your RSS to MANY points (backlinks auto generated out of your RSS feed) to your site. Warning: Not all free hosts work. If you have trouble validating your RSS Node, try another host. It would also be helpful if people posted the hosts that worked here in the thread. Once your node and RSS feed are validated, you should see your list of links within a few hours.
Thanks Mark... There are 2 possibilities here. 1) You were one of our alpha testers, so it's possible that the feed is 'stuck' - in which case I'll just kill it and you can re-submit 2) It got caught by the content filters... As mentioned above - No adult or gambling content permitted...
Hey - I am having a problem with titles with a ? in them... I think there a bug related to this maybe...
Thanks all seems to be going good now, rss was added and process is actually very simple. This seems to look like a very good linking opportunity and works very smoothly, just take some time to choose a good free hosting site. I will be adding more nodes and rss feeds soon. I think it would be good to add some links(social bookmark)to these nodes to get them indexed, increase in pr and pass this on to our main sites. Mark
So. That was like the easiest 20 links I ever built. I know these will not be authority sites or anything, but seems like a great way to get your RSS out there... I see that there are a few more sites in the network today. I assume that is other people building syndication points. How many are we permitted to build?
Thanks for all the help folks. We are at 86 sites in the RSS Syndication Network... Added bonus for those who have submitted. You can get an RSS feed of all the posts we've made for you... Why is this helpful? You can take the RSS feed we've built for you and submit it to a bunch of other RSS submission sites (MillionRSS, FeedFury, etc)... Those links will get your pages in our RSS Syndication Network indexed. Sort of linking to links... It helps for sure.
