I have noticed that many popular sites now offer RSS feed? Of which I have not idea? Would having xml or whatever will that bring more visitors to my site? If so, how do I go about implementing it into my site..

Again, sorry to be so vague... but would like some information and why I should implement feed on my sites...

How many of you actually use the program... ? I do send out a newsletter to my subscribers... is that enough? So many questions? Please be gentle, thanks,

People often use RSS feed to integrate regularly updated content into their sites.
If they use your RSS feed, then you pick up numerous back links to your site and hopefully visitors that want to read the rest of the infomation.

yes, I think out going rss feeds are worth while (or at least they don't cause any harm).
Which one will do the job ??
Do you mean which protocol or which software ?
If the cms I'm using provides an rss feed then I use that, if not I write my own. I don't normally care whether the feed is xml, rss2 or whatever - if someone wants to use it they'll find out how.

Question: what do you use to create your site, is it purpose written or is it a cms ?

Yes, there are sites out there which will create and rss feed from your site.
Perhaps it might be helpful for you to try this link or this search :)

RSS and other feed formats are just text files. You can create an RSS feed yourself by creating a text file filled with the right tags and information and just placing it on your web server. But you generally want to automate the process (the way blogs do) so that you don't have to keep editing it by hand.

A good place to start is Making an RSS Feed. You can also search the web for "RSS creation" and similar terms to find software.

Note that when you create an RSS feed you'll have to choose between actually putting all your content in the feed or else just putting an extract/summary of each article. The latter gets you more page visits (and hence more ad money), but some people only read their feeds through news readers and don't bother visiting the main site unless the article looks particularly compelling. It depends what you're after, really, as to which way you go. So far I've not truncated my blog feed, but I may at some point, but for now the blog serves as good publicity.

Okay finally got my head around RSS thanks Eric I went to the site and created the psydo feed...

My question is who do I publish with (is that the term?) I would like to go with a well known rss publisher

As my site already has a article page which includes all the latest Elvis news updates... to which I will direct my readers... and maybe add one Headline item.

However, my main aim is to get more back links and visitors to my site...

    So who would you recommend?

Once you have a feed setup, you basically need to get the feed listed in various RSS sites and search engines. You can go to a site like Ping-o-Matic! and submit your feed there whenever it changes ("ping") and it will notify a bunch of tracking services for you. You can go to individual sites and get your feed registered. Eventually (actually, fairly quickly in my experience), Yahoo! and Google and other search engines will find your feed (make sure you link to it from at least one of your pages) and crawl it regularly.

Remember, in the end these are just files that get crawled, so it's really the same kind of process you go through to get your web pages crawled.

Email's fine. If you check my reviews up on Amazon, my readers seem amazed that I actually answer my email, which always boggles my mind -- who wouldn't respond?

Just buy a copy of my book and I'll be happy :D
