Thinking about using free images for online projects... Just wondering what people thought about this new site http://www.myfreedigitalphotos.com Freel free to check it out and let me know what you think.
hmm, the color scheme looks really bland... especially for an image site. Also, the alignment with images and text looks all over the place. It is hard when have different size pics and orientation, but, I think if you have properly defined thumbnails, it looks better.
I like your site. But I would suggest these modifications. 1.: Change the logo, to look better. 2.: Change the header, same reasons ... 3.: Yes, it wouldn’t be bad to modify also colors of your website. 4.: Give user information about how much images you have on your site. This is also a case for categories listing on the left. For example: Architecture (xy). 5.: On small preview image listing "connect" the title of the photo with the "frame" in which is image. Now it looks "disconnected". (Hard to explain, my feeling of it ... ) 6.: The area where the search results are shown (listing of images) is too small – width only 542px. I am used to wide searches from the stock photo agencies. 7.: You have no keywords, nor the descriptions (except the image title) of the images, on the large image preview page. Only license, etc. – And thus everything (text) is almost the same on every large image preview page. That is bad for SEO! Put on every large image preview page some different text in addition to the license, etc. – So, include a lot of keywords describing the image and long (if possible) image description. For example, I on my personal photographic portfolio site (I am hobbyist stock photographer) always try to put as much info (description, keywords) describing the image as possible. Example.: http://www.jareso.com/photo/268/entrance-to-the-strecno-castle/ Yeah! – It is pretty time consuming to write all those descriptions, and keywords but it is worth in terms of SEO. – It brings a lot of traffic based on searches for those word(s) and phrases. But my overall impression of your site is good! I like it!
You have to come up with some other theme and a banner with a logo for your photo site. You have a beautiful and professional niche. I liked to see all of your articles and pictures. I'll be a regular visitor, just put some more attractive and catchy pictures on the homepage
Put a large outstanding image in the centre instead of the text and keep the text at the bottom, it will make a huge difference. And yes, rework the logo.
Thankyou for the great feedback everyone!! I had to put this site on the backburner for a while.. although still regularly updating the site with new images. I recently decided to sell it.. But I am now thinking about keeping hold of it and do all the reworks everyone suggested.. It won't be difficult for me to change the logo e.t.c because designing is actually my field.. For now I just knocked up the layout of the site pretty quick and just focusing on creating imagery.. So with it being a year old already think its time to do some seo work.. and make site more appealing... The template is kinda ugly but it loads fast!!
