    Hi

I run a significantly size vbulletin forum of which a moderator decided to delete everything on the site including the backups. I have a log of all ip addresses - this is a ton of work down the drain. What legal recourse can I take?

    Thanks matro cka

Eh? You gave your moderator all access to your site??
That was one dangerous thing to do.
I assume you know the person personally (given that you trust him/her so much to give your hosting details). Why not look for him/her and ask nicely..or drag him/her to police station.

But, didn't you save your backups at all remotely or locally??

If he doesn't live near you or if you don't know here hes physical address is I believe its gonna be very hard even if you can proof that he did it, imagine try to sue someone for property damage in Timbuktu.

Your server host should be doing daily backups...see if you can restore it. Looks like you've learned a hard lesson when it comes to trust. The only person you can trust with your site is yourself...unless it's a business partner who is under contract...
