Root URL De-indexed But Fresh Content Pages Being Indexed?

    Hey guys,

I recently bought a domain that looked great - seriously looked good. Clean back links, PR3 (and all that that entails), not a huge amount of back links and *none* of them were anywhere even close to spam. It's a medical topic.

The dot-com was indexed three weeks ago when I bought the domain. I've put up fresh, 100% unique content (around eight or ten pages), and haven't built any back links yet. The its structure is natural and it looks like a genuine, real website... not a money site.

My question is: I just today re-searched for the domain in Google and the root domain is not indexed, but when I paste in exact phrases from the fresh content pages Google returns them perfectly fine. EDIT: I should note that when I search for exact phrases off the root URL, Google does return the site as #1...

And ideas about what's going on? Thanks so much!

Need a link or we are flying blind. Off the top of my head a range of things get reset when you purchase a domain but I would have to take a look.
