I'm writing some articles about rpommates or flatmates, as we call them here in Australia. In Australia, we say when we live with a bunch of flatmates/roommates that we live in a sharehouse. In an article, I would write, eg, ...when living in a sharehouse, remember to ....... . My question is what is the equivalent word to sharehouse in America or how would I rephrase my sentences to when writing to an American audience. Any help is welcome. Thanks
I don't think there is an american alternative to that. Perhaps, When sharing accomodations When living with others when sharing a house when you have housemates etc.
I do not think there is much difference in the terminology and expression used by Americans. Roommates and shared accommodation lingo is pretty standard in English speaking countries.
